Stresa on Lake Maggiore

Along with Baveno, Stresa is the main town located in the territory between Lake Maggiore and Lake D'Orta. This small area in the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola in Piemonte is known as Vergante. We're not too sure why but it is the small mountain range which links the two lakes.

The official tourism office flyer sums up Stresa as 'a delicious and aristocratic tourist resort with delightful promenades, tree lined walks and luxury villas.

It really is a jewel combining breath taking natural beauty with fine art, outdoor sporting activities and a base for excursions on water, bike, horse or on foot.

A couple of these excursions might include the islands of Isola Bella and Isola Madre for their delightful palaces and exotic gardens.

The seven market days in the zone (starting on Monday) take place in Baveno, Arona, Luino, Omegna, Stresa Pallanza, Intra and Canobbio.

The two main festivals of the year are held in April for the Camelia flower and throughout August and September for the International Music festivals.
