The city of Verona may be the most romantic place in Italy.
Not least, of course, for being the setting for William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a tragedy of course and, in particular, the famous balcony where Juliet was won over by her Romeo.
Although the actual building dates from the 14th century, the balcony may just not, but who cares.
Over one million visitors to the spot make this one of the country's must visit attractions.
In the Spring of 2009, the balcony was in the news when the Verona authorities announced they were allowing couples to take their wedding vows here.
Not just the balcony, but also other previously off limits locations such as Sala Arazzi in Palazzo Barbieri, Sala Guarienti at the Tomb of Juliet and the Loggia Barbaro in the courtyard of the Tribunale.
The aim is to enforce Verona's place as the first and most desirable location for getting married in Italy.
"Although we hope Verona does not become the 'Las Vegas d'Italia'" as one official forewarned,
Special wedding packages and other ongoing initiatives will enhance the city's romantic credentials.
The price for saying I do on the balcony will range from 100 to 500 euros and increasing further for non Italy residents.
