Description

Percorso Arte Sella - a completely unique biennial exhibition of sculptures constructed of solely of wood, stone, vegetables, leaves and other materials found in nature. Following a path through a typical forest that appears no different than the thousands of others that crisscross the peaks and valleys of the Dolomites is a series of very imaginative sculptures that have been artistically created by over a hundred artists. These works have been assembled by a group called 'Arte Sella' which was founded in 1986 to commission art that is specifically designed to decay over time (biodegradable in other words). In addition to presenting art in a completely non-traditional manner, Arte Sella also provides an unusually creative environment for artists by offering room and board in a renovated farm house. Artists come from Europe and the Unites States as well as from more distant lands such as New Zealand, Japan, Lithuania and Azerbaijan. Works include floating installations, spider-like slices of trees placed in an amazing array, musical instruments, leaf sculptures, odd stone structures and many more that are just too unique to be described in this tiny space. To reach Arte Sella take SS47 from either Trento or Padova, exit at Burgo Valsugano and follow SP40 past the village of Olle and continue for about 12 kilometers until the road ends at Carlon. The approach is well marked with signs and parking is provided. Proceed further on foot for about one kilometer. The telephone is not well manned but the number is 0348-3122936. www.artesella.it
